Social Networking Demands Creative Content
Category... Social media

Social media is the cover term for the hottest marketing communication tools of today. They include such popular networking sites as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. These sites and their mobile apps are used by millions. They enable interactive communities and conversations among members, which you can entertain and influence through effective insurance marketing. But as cool and popular as these sites are, they have something in common with ordinary agency websites, blogs, and newsletters. This commonality is their need for creative content. If you have nothing interesting to post, then no one will converse, become a fan, follower, connection, or otherwise interact with you.
This is why we started the social media section of the Instant Download Store... to provide you with a selection of interesting insurance-specific content you can attach to your agency’s Facebook wall, post on Twitter and LinkedIn, etc. This ever-expanding section includes “brick wall” postings, personal lines and small commercial tip sheets, transcripts of imaginary conversations with your agency, marketing tweets, blog content, and more.
Use just the text of a tool or post it as a PDF download or as a jpeg image. There are multiple ways to add our creative content to the social networking site(s) of your choice. Below are some helpful suggestions.
Facebook. Convert your edited Word file of any tool in the social media section into a jpeg file (the same format as a typical digital photograph) and attach it as a “photo” on your wall. Create special albums for Brick Wall postings, If We Talked, and Insurance Tip Sheets, to display a series of these visually interesting and entertaining marketing tools. (Software to convert Word files to jpeg images can be located on the Web. Simply search for “doc to jpeg” to explore your options.) Tip: You can also post the mini-posters in the Contractors Center and many of the tools in the Marketing with Humor section in a similar manner.
LinkedIn. Host the social media tool as a PDF, jpeg image, or as text only (via cut and paste) on your agency website or blog. Then announce the link to your connections. Also post the link on any relevant groups to which you belong.
Twitter. Host the tool as a PDF, jpeg image, or as text only on your agency website or blog. Then tweet the link to your followers.
As a bonus, you can use the content of our social media tool for your agency newsletter and website-- or as a physical insert, handout, or flyer.
