Let "Imaginary Conversations" Sell for You

Custom "transcripts" of imaginary conversations get people to listen to your insurance ideas.

The device for this exercise in imagination is an attractive document, containing the transcript of a make-believe conversation between an insured or prospect and your office. The subject of the communication can be any topic that you select, since the discussion is entirely fictional.

To get you started, we have created three one-page transcripts that discuss the importance of saving on auto and homeowners premiums, umbrella policies, and flood insurance.

These imaginative tools each display a sales-driven sequence of sample questions and answers. The agency always leads off with an attention-grabbing query or concern. The interlocutor (either a CSR or producer) then directs the faux chat in such a way as to present the desired information. The lines attributed to the other party are clear and pointed inquiries, similar to those asked by typical agency clients.

The document itself is an easily edited Word file, complete with an "IF WE TALKED!" headline, a sub-head that explains the page's purpose, a small graphic, and the imaginary transcript itself.

The three pre-written imaginary documents, of course, all conclude successfully with the insured asking how they can acquire what you suggest. And ideally, their reaction follows the script that you wrote. To prompt them, each final line contains a call-to-action that invites the person to contact your office.

Distribution ideas: Send individual "conversations" as PDF email attachments or postal mailings. Use as social media postings on your Facebook wall and in tweets onTwitter. Also post on your website and use in your agency newsletter or blog.
